- First I did an ACV (apple cider vinegar) rinse. I simply poured some ACV onto my hair until it was saturated, massaged my scalp, then rinsed with warm water.
- I washed my hair with The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Shampoo and rinsed with warm water.
- I applied The Mane Choice's Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Hair Mask. I let it sit for about 20 minutes and I applied heat using my Hot Head Cap. Then I rinsed with cool water.
- I then applied The Mane Choice's Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Conditioner. I let it sit for 5 minutes and then I rinsed with cool water.
- I towel dried my hair and used tgin's Green Tea Leave In Conditioner. I put my hair into four sections and secured each section with a clamp. On the ends of my hair I applied The Mane Choice's Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Split-End Treatment Serum.
- I detangled one section, applied 2 pumps of Briogeo Rosarco Oil, a nickel sized amount of Briogeo Rosarco Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Creme, and blow dried my hair using the comb attachment. I completed this to the remaining sections.
- I waited until the next day to flat iron my hair with my Chi fat iron. I placed my hair into 4 sections again, applied Mielle Organic's Mint Almond Oil, and flat ironed each section. I didn't set the flat iron to a certain temperature because my Chi flat iron does not give me the option to. I have a PHfusion that has the temperature control on there and I usually have it set between 325-375℉.

If you've been following along, then you already know that I don't like putting heat on my hair. I guess I've used heat and chemicals on my hair for so many years now that I feel like it deserves a break as I learn more about being natural. I blow dried my hair straight for a sew-in in January (that only lasted 5 days) and I had no intentions on using the blow dryer again until I got ready for some braids or Senegalese twists. But on wash day last week, I kept having the urge to use a new product and using that product meant using heat.
Let me take ya'll through the steps of this particular wash day.
Let me take ya'll through the steps of this particular wash day.
I didn't flat iron my hair silky straight. I just did two passes with the flat iron. I'm still overly cautious about putting heat on my hair. Now once again I just wanted to use my Briogeo products. That is the only reason I even straightened my hair. Well, I also needed to do a length check. My goal this year is to have bra length hair. I'm almost there...well maybe by the end of they year I will be completely there. But needless to say, I loved the way all the products I used worked with my hair. I was also really happy that I had very little hair shedding. I think the minimal shedding was due to conditioning weekly, keeping my hair moisturized, and of course The Mane Choice's Ancient Egyptian collection. I also used used The Mane Choice's Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Oil and Mielle Organic's Avocado Hair Milk each day after I straightened my hair. Hair shedding used to be a major issue for me when I used chemicals and heat regularly. It took me awhile but I am learning to take better care of my hair. As for this straight hair, it's for the birds. I'm already ready for my mess of curly hair to come back.
Check back later to see what's up next! 😊
